On Thursday, 9 December, transport ministers will meet for the last day of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council meeting, chaired by the Minister of Infrastructure Jernej Vrtovec. The Fit for 55 energy and climate package will be the main topic of the meeting.

The transport ministers will discuss the following transport dossiers from this legislative package: the Regulation on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure, the Regulation on sustainable air transport (ReFuelEU Aviation) and the Regulation on the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels in maritime transport (FuelEU Maritime).

Chair of the EU Transport Council, Minister Jernej Vrtovec said, “Reaching an agreement on the transport dossiers is essential if we are to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, as we will need to reduce emissions from transport by around 90%. The Slovenian Presidency has started intensive negotiations on all three proposals and the discussions will be important in reaching a future agreement on all three dossiers.”
