Afterwards, the Committee on Culture heard Rózsa Hoffmann, Minister of State for Education, said, „The execution of the Europe 2020 Strategy is a chief objective of the Hungarian Presidency, to make Europe stronger, adoptive and competitive.

This called for giving priority to areas ensuring development, such as education and training... the Hungarian Presidency will organise a conference on talent care in March, and proposed that 25 March, the birthday of composer Béla Bartók, should be declared the European Day of Talent.”

„To promote social inclusion, it is necessary to exploit the values stemming from European diversity, put demographic issues on the agenda, and to continue the fight against child poverty”, said the Minister of State. Ms Hoffmann added that the Hungarian Presidency wants to accept the European Framework of Roma Strategies, and gives priority to improving the quality of pre-school education, preventing early school drop-outs and to improve mobility for learning purposes. The Minister of State suggests the need to re-examine ways to combat school aggression.

MEPs welcomed the Hungarian programme, especially the Roma strategy and the issues of infant education. In response to eleven questions by MEPs, the Minister of State said, „The alignment is not an ethnical but a social issue, and the schooling of Roma children in Hungary is full and non-discriminatory.„
